Being a support action, the Twinning project eHERITAGE has one main objective: to increase the capacity, quality and extent of the research staff at the Virtual Reality and Robotics Department of Transilvania University of Brasov (UTBv), by collaborating with 2 other centers of excellence in Europe: the Department of Intelligent Systems of Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the TECIP Istitute PERCRO (Perceptual Robotics) Laboratory of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (SSSA) from Pisa, Italy.
eHERITAGE has set 3 operational objectives:
- Increasing scope and competitive research of the host institution, UTBv
- Training and mobility of researchers
- Continuously extending the R&I
After the first year of the project, considerable improvements have been made in all 3 operational objectives, as described below.
24-26 Nov, 2015 eHERITAGE kickoff meeting, Brasov (Romania)
During the kickoff meeting a number of events has been organized for internal dissemination in the Brasov University, with visits to laboratories and to the rectorate, and in the community, with visits to local heritages sites (including Bran Castle).
13 Jan, 2016 – eHERITAGE exploratory meeting, Pisa (Italia)
Same happened in the first exploratory meeting in Pisa, with visits to Sant’Anna University laboratories and to the Museo Nazionale di San Matteo, where the representatives of the Museum met the eHeritage delegates.
10 Oct, 2016 – eHERITAGE workshop during IS2016
The first workshop of the eHERITAGE project took place within the 19th international multiconference Information Society (IS2016), having a special section, during the 11th of October, at the premises of the Jožef Stefan Institute – http://is.ijs.si/conferences.php. The workshop was also streamed at http://tv.ijs.si. Users were able to watch the stream over the web or on several TVs throughout JSI and at the Reactor centre (dislocated JSI branch). Around 50-100 people connected throughout the day to the stream during the workshop.
6 external stages were conducted in the following periods:
- Duguleană Mihai, Postelnicu Cristian and Gîrbacia Florin had their stage between the 20th of June and the 12th of July, 2016, at SSSA, in Pisa, Italy.
- Antonya Csaba, Boboc Răzvan and Butilă Eugen undergone their first external stage between the 25th of September and the 15th of October, 2016, at JSI, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Summing the 6 short external stages, the 6 UTBv members have spent in total over 90 work days at the premises of our partners, planning activities, actively participating in the knowledge transfer process, using available state-of-the-art infrastructure, gaining experience and new information regarding the digital cultural heritage domain, disseminating results and interacting with other professionals which share their interests.
UTBv team made contact with the History Musem of Brasov. This fortunate collaboration resulted from the fact that eHERITAGE project was featured in local media, and in the newspapers of several institutions, since its beginning, in November, 2015. Starting with August, 2016, UTBv participates in an exhibition of the History Musem of Brasov. Moreover, UTBv plans to collaborate with this institution in other future exhibitions, on several research themes.
During 29th of August – 7th of September, 4 members of the UTBv personnel participated in a series of workshops organized under the 5-th Edition of CREATIVE Summer School in Virtual Environments, held at Ovidius University of Constanta by CeRVA Lab of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science in a partnership with National History and Archaeology Museum of Constanta and Transilvania University from Brasov.
